Computer Workshop

Dedicated to repairing, refurbishing, and/or recycling older computers

Several members have suggested that the club try to recycl old computer and related equipment for a long time. This has been brought up several times and finally the powers that be said yes. So the First Computer Workshop meeting will be held Saturday, October 11th, 2014, 1PM. All subsequent meetings will be held on the 2nd Sat. of the month starting at 1PM, right after the NJ Gamers.

I don't think there will be any limit what one does at these events, so if you have a hardware problem, bring it in and we can all help fix or demolish it. (no guarantees either way)

E-Mail: Computer Workshop SIG Leader Robert Hawes.

Much thanks to Burke Mawby who ran the WorkShop in and around Aberdeen, NJ for MANY long years.

History

ACGNJ has not held a daytime meeting in quite a while, so we've decided to try again. Our inspiration: The Philadelphia Area Computer Society holds only one meeting a month, but it's a biggie. On the third Saturday, from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM, they hold seventeen different meetings, four at a time in four different rooms. Apparently, there is an audience for Saturday daytime meetings. We're starting smaller, though. Just one room (our usual) from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM. We're calling it Computer Workshop, after the meetings that Burke Mawby held in Aberdeen, NJ from 1989 to 2007. Bob Hawes will be its Chairman, and its format (to start, anyway) will be random access. Our first meeting is scheduled for Saturday, October 11th, and we hope to see you there. (As always, please check the club website (www.acgnj.org) for last minute news).

ACGNJ thanks GoDaddy for providing our hosting.
