Meeting Reports:
In May Layman's Forum we discussed ZIP Files, WinZip, AZZ
Cardfile. The discussion was requested from the
attendance.
- We defined what are ZIP and compression files. Created
a ZIP file in which files were added and moved into
the ZIP file. Files were then extracted from the ZIP
file.
- Used WinZip when working with ZIP files.
Briefly covered some of its features such as giving
graphic from MIME file that may be received from your
email. Also covered configuring WinZip to
your personal preference.
- Demonstrated AZZ cardfile program with obtaining
information from a Web page and copying it into a AZZ
cardfile for easy cataloging information. AZZ files
created by Matt Skoda were demonstrated.

The main discussion topic was e-mail. A brief history of e-mail
was given for background information. An
explanation of the major components of an e-mail message was given.
The Microsoft Outlook and AOL mail programs were used.
