My parents had a friend who worked for an electical supply house (I
think he owned it.)
His house had mercury switches on many lights and such around the house.
He could turn them on and off from his entry doors, kitchen and bed
room. (1950's)
What does is cover?
All the senses and then some...

So HA has been arond for quite some time.
Some might be familiar with X10 (1970's)
Originally rather limited use, functionality and quantity of operations.
Now they control everything.
The other end is using a Siri like interface to contrl
everything.
Wake up in the morning
Tell Jeeves to warm up the bathroom
Jeeves- start the
shower
Jeeves - make the coffee with cream,
moca, whatever
